We believe prayer is a vital part of our church, come and join us

NEPAL March 2010

On our journey to Nepal in March Philip read in 'The Peninsula' (an English language national newspaper of Qatar) how the International Union for Muslim Scholars (IUMS) have called for a 'Rage and Solidarity Day' against Israel because of plans to build the Jewish Temple next to the Al Aqsa Mosque. As I read the article I was filled with a sense of destiny and how close we must be to the return of the Lord. The need to preach the Gospel is more urgent than ever.
The Lord has given us the honour of regularly visiting Nepal since 1994 during that time we have ministered in churches, Bible Colleges and leaders seminars. We have, by the grace of God, seen many saved, healed and filled with the Holy Spirit during our visits and the hunger for the Word of God amongst the Nepali people has always been an inspiration to us. However, the most that we have ever ministered to at one time has been about 400 people because the political situation has been very unstable and the government has been wary about large gatherings in the open because of the security risks.
Praise God that the situation is now quite different and on this trip 60 churches worked together in the Butwal area to host outdoor meetings. The local churches arranged Christian music and dancing (Nepali style) and a well known Nepali Christian TV personality gave his testimony. The crowds came and Philip preached to 2000 (some of the local pastors said 3000) on the first night and then the next night an estimated crowd of 5000 people showed up. All this in 38°C but hundreds of people gave their lives to Jesus, were healed and some delivered from demons. People testified towards the end of the service of healings that they had received including deaf people hearing, crippled people being able to walk, long term illnesses being cured as well as many in pain being instantly relieved. It was thrilling though to see so many respond to an appeal to repent and receive Jesus Christ as Lord. One woman in the crowd during a ministry time pushed her way forward waving her arms and with a contorted face making her way towards Philip as he was preaching. He spoke to the demon to leave and the woman fell on the floor and was instantly delivered. When people see the power of God manifested in this way they want to give their lives to Jesus! We give the Lord all the glory for all He has done.

Although similar events have been held in Kathmandu we were told that this was the first time that the Gospel had been openly preached to such a large crowd in the country areas. We are planning to go again to preach the Gospel in other parts of Nepal during early 2011.
Healing testimonies hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhLeaders seminar
The crusades were in the afternoons and in the mornings we ministered o the church leaders where there was a great hunger and sense of the presence of God. We also ministered in the enlarged building of Pastor Min Raj church in Kathmandu.
It is so encouraging to see the growth of the church. Dr Sashi who works for Campus Crusade for Christ told Philip that although no accurate records are kept there are a minimum of 250 churches being planted in Nepal every year and they believe that this is the most effective means of evangelism. Pastor Min Raj has started a training programme for 3 months in Kathmandu (during the rainy season) to equip 25 church planters who will go and plant new churches later in the year in the areas where the Lord has called them.
What God is doing in Nepal is the closest thing we have ever seen to New Testament Christianity!
